Heaven

My mother gave me sheets for my birthday.

400 thread count sateen sheets.

They are the color of butter cream icing.

I put them on the bed last night (yes, without washing them first, I didn't care).

I got into bed.

The heavens opened, trumpets blared (softly, it was bedtime), and angels beamed sweet smiles down upon me.

It was the best night of sleep I've had in ages.

I'm totally ruined now; I can never go back to standard 200 thread count sheets. For those of you who were wondering--oh, yes, there is a difference.

Now I have to go buy a new blanket because the one I have is not worthy of those sheets.

oh, I'm so jealous. I stayed with a friend who had 400 count sheets on her GUEST bed...I've been dreaming of that night ever since.

You cannot go back.

I introduced my frugal husband to the concept of 400 thread count sateen sheets. When we finally had to replace them, it was truly funny to watch his penny-pinching nature struggle with his unwillingness to return to 200 thread count land.

I'm thankful to say that the good sheets won, but he did put up the good fight.

sounds lovely!

Cec-

You so deserve great sheets. I let you on a little secret- nice towels are worth it too.

Heavenly sleeping!

my wife bought me sheets like this for my birthday and i love them. except that a week after she bought them, she had a period and leaked onto them. now they're stained.

You described it perfectly. I had to do the same thing, upgrade blanket to suit new sheets. I was one that always said it didn't make a difference but it does. Hope you like the new blanket!

That is so funny ... your bedsheet isn't "worthy". Love that. And I totally know what you mean ... my SIL has the most heavenly bedding at her house. Towels too. Do you know how hard it is to come back to our crap after feeling how soft the other side lives? At least I've figured out how to make my towels less crunchy ... TWO sheets of fabric softener! It really works!

Now I'm afraid to try them, doesn't sound like I'll ever be able to go back! Or want to go back, for that matter!

Oh yes! There IS a difference. I thought jersey sheets were spun by angels until we bought 400 thread count sheets a couple of weeks ago. Oh my God.

Glad you're sleeping well!

You. Can. Never. Go. Back. Just trust me. Anything less is now going to feel like sandpaper. The only other thing that I will now accept are really good linen sheet, washed many times.

I just got 600 tc sateen sheets last week - up from standard wal-mart cheapies. And I was thinking about upgrading my old blanket also - how can you enjoy lux sheets with a so-so blanket?! I'm glad you got an upgrade - enjoy!!

I just got my first 400tc sheets about a month ago--same color as yours, too. They ARE just heavenly. Thankfully I got a new, worthy comforter set at the same time (gotta love Overstock.com). I don't think I can ever go back. I am sad every time I have to put my 250tcs on the bed...and I'm tempted to just wash the 400tcs and put them right back on!

mmmm...sounds like sweet dreams to me :) enjoy!

Now THAT is positively decadent! I'm jealous! Happy belated birthday - enjoy the sheets!

What a neat present. May have to try some!

I've never slept on 400 thread count sheets, but it sounds amazing. There's nothing quite like getting into a freshly made bed with brand new sheets. Kind of makes me wish it was evening already, so I can go back to bed...

If you think they're good now, just wait until you've washed & Downified them. Waaaaaaaaay better than just out of the package. I always think about what/who touched them at the factory & must wash things before use.

I had to go to Overstock.com and order new sheets after reading this. Besides, ours are ratty and have tears.

my sister refuses to sleep on anything less than 400 tc. I laughed until I took a nap in her bed. I am now looking all over for some in my colors. bad sis!

Oh Gawd. One more thing for me to feel less than worthy about. Enjoy the sheets!

That sounds amazing! I love the part about going out to get a new blanket ;)

Note to self: Go shopping! haha like I ever need to write myself a note reminding me to go shopping.

Oh Sweetie, allow me to introduce you to two thing.. www.smartbargain.com and www.overstock.com. The land of $49.95 400 thread count sheets. Sheer heaven. My darling husband is now spoiled rotten. I don't even think he had 200 thread count when he met me. I think they may have been old potato sacks :)

Oh yes... We just got a new mattress, and I ordered 600 tc sateen sheets from Overstock.com to go with it. The mattress cost more than my first car, but the sheets weren't bad at all. Absolutely heavenly... we're pulling out all the stops to make our FET work. :)

My advice for you re. the blanket: If the current one is the right weight, etc., how about just get a nice high threadcount duvet cover for it? In any case, I'd also highly recommend overstock.com. Happy sleeping!

Along with smartbargin.com and overstock.com (both good but they use to not ship to Hawaii so I had to look elsewhere) may I also introduce you to ebay baby! I'm still on lowly 220 count but they're all Calvin Kline picked up at 40-50% (or even more) off and my king size comforter and blanket were even better deals, they were both showroom models vs. being brand new and both were less that 50$. The comforter had a small stain that came right out, so happy me. These sheets are still newish so it will be awhile before I'll upgrade to 400 ct in the mean time I'll have envious dreams.
