Happy V-Jay-Jay Day

Of course I mean Happy Valentine's Day, but that was a shout out to all the other rabid Grey's Anatomy fans out there (v-jay-jay is what one character called her vagina).

People seem to differ on how they celebrate this day. Sarah, the newlywed, has chosen to ignore it (silly girl). But Charlie and I got cute gifts for each other. I'm particularly proud of the gift I got/made for him--a 20-song CD of songs about trains, plus a lot of Johnny Cash (we were singing "Jackson" together today as he drove me to work--it was adorable). He got me "The Grass is Blue", Dolly Parton's second bluegrass album. I've listened to it three times today already, it's that good (I love me some Dolly Parton). He also got me the sixth novel in a sci-fi/fantasy series I've been waiting two years for (now I just have to remember what happened in the rest of the books).

Anyway. I have nothing much else of interest to say. Sorry.

I think it's because suddenly, here at 20 weeks, I am STARVING. I am getting hungry about two or three hours earlier than I was last week. I usually have breakfast at 10; lunch at 1 (I used to be able to wait until 3 to eat lunch before I was pregnant, but HA HA HA HA). Now I'm ravenous by 11:30. It's currently about 3:45 and I am slowly eating all of the Valentine's Day candy I was using in displays around the store (pathetic, I know).

Nothing in the crap-ass books I have talks about a baby growth spurt this week (well, maybe they do, but I hate them all so much I can't read them often), but I'm thinking that must be happening. I'm hungry enough that I would consider eating this (hee hee--I put that in just for you, Menita).

So, how did you all celebrate V-Jay-Jay day?

Preeclampsia watch:

Glucose: 101
BP: 133/82
Weight: down two pounds
Protein in urine: slightly stronger today, more like trace than negative (nothing to worry about, yet)
Baby: kicking and beating

HAHAHAHA!!! I love that you wrote V-Jay-Jay Day. I never commented on the previous post, but after just joining in with the rest of the world and watching GA for the first time last week and this week, I am already addicted. It was totally over the top, but I'm cool with that.
We are planning on renting a movie and snuggling, and then going to our bedroom early, and not for sleeping. LOL. It is our 'date' night after all, but Pete's been too busy to go out and get me anything.
Your gifts sound great...now I'm feeling like a loser. ;-)

Me and the hubby only do the snuggles routine. Maybe with a little extra.....

We dont make a big Ta-Do of V-day because our anniversary is next week. He better be locked and loaded for a big day on the 23rd though! And we cheat because by time our anniversary comes around (the 23rd) all those roses and bears and all that sweet stuff in on sale so we prefer to be cheap and skip the v-day and head right for the Anniversary celebration with discounted gifts!

I've never seen GA--- And i cant right now, I'm too into other shows to keep up with one more. I'll keep it on my back burner though.

You and charlie are so sweet to eachother!
I love Tory Updates! Gawd, if its a boy, i'm gonna have to re-train my thinking from Tory to Hank..... isnt it Hank? Also- How do we spell Tory? Y or I on the end?

Big hugs!

I've never commented before, but I LOVE your blog (found it when googling pregnancy, believe it or not). I'm transfixed now that I know you love GA (ohmigosh I am obsessed with that show) and b/c I'll be 18 weeks Thursday. (I alternate now between absolutely starving and not wanting to eat A THING, by the way). When did you first feel the baby? Still waiting...

Happy V-Jay-Jay Day!

My husband and I are having a contest to see who can get the sappiest, most velvety card out there. Mine is pretty good, but he's pretty resourceful. So I'm excited to see who wins. Other than that, after 12 years we don't celebrate in the traditional sense, but we have a nice meal and cupcakes planned with the kids.

I've never much cared for Valentine's Day. But I don't begrudge others the enjoyment of it.

Man, I LOVE Johnny Cash.

It's just another day for me. I think my ex-husband would be proud, I spent 7 years with him and he hated Valentine's Day, I loved it and it was always a big disappointment for me. I think 2 of the 7 years were at best, okay in terms of V-Day.

So now I ignore it, I did last year too. Of course I also have the 1 year anniversary of my divorce on the 17th so.....

Sheesh, don't I sound like a bitter old hag? But really I'm not!

I'm celebrating by donating blood, it's a gift for someone else, and I feel good in return - guaranteed.

It's my day off work so I made a POT ROAST to show my hubby how much I love him. Nothin' says love like potroast. Or does it?

Anyhow. When I read, "Baby: kicking and beating" I become thrilled for you. Funny, this blogospere - I barely "know" you, but I am just as excited for your healthy baby to arrive as I am for my own.

Happy V-Jay-Jay day to you too! I totally shot Ben & Jerry's Peanut Butter Cup ice cream through my nose when Bailey said that the other night.

We don't do that much for V-day any more, but I told him that season one is out on DVD and I am hoping he took the hint...if he did he just may get to see my v-jay-jay!

Preeclampsia watch still looking good. Sending good thoughts...

Neither of us really felt inspired this time, so we're saying that we're "sticking it to the man" and not participating in this Hallmark holiday. Even conservatives can have an occasional anti-capitalist spasm . I think our lack of inspiration may be related to (a) it falling on a Tuesday, when (i) he has a poker game and (ii) I watch Gilmore Girls, work a bit, and get into bed by 9:30 so that I can work out in the morning and (b) our 10th wedding anniversary is coming up, and we'll be doing a whole lotta romantic stuff for that, including a cruise... Now, I could have sworn I saw cake up by the front desk; better go check it out!

For whatever reason, I've never really cared much for Valentine's Day and after the Valentine's fiasco of 1996 (1st valentine as a couple. Waited a ridiculous amount of time to eat at a restaurant, left said restaurant v.v. annoyed, grabbed a pizza and two bottles of wine and headead home, had a great time)we swore we would never celebrate valentines in the "traditional" way.

We usually have a quiet dinner at home, perhaps exchange some cards (Chantal, may I steal your idea of finding the sappiest card? that is a fantastic idea! oh the hilarity!). This past weekend I actually baked some valentine cookies with my girl and that was fun (and messy!). So yeah, we don't do anything special. Besides, my husband is the type that makes a big deal out of the important ocassions in our life, so that works for me!

Yay, baby!

I haven't seen my husband yet today - opposite skeds with me working at night. So Valentine's Day isn't until FRIDAY - when we're going to see Mrs. Henderson Presents.

I got a Dolly Parton's Greatest Hits CD (or something along those lines - it's blue) last Christmas. It's awesome. I don't know if you're down with country music that much - but the Brad Paisley song, When I Get Where I'm Going - has her singing with him. It makes me cry - such a pretty song.

Candy. Kids. Candy. Paper Hearts.

Happy V-Day to you.

V Jay Jay? No one to snuggle with so I vote to revolt. I went to the florist yesterday to pick up some flowers for my aunt who's in the hospital. OBG - the prices! I opt'd for the tulip plant so she can plant the bulbs in the fall and get more flowers next spring!

My 7 year old daughter loves "The Grass is Blue". We love us some Dolly too! We have listened to it almost every day in the car for the last 2 weeks...that was until she got a Disney (ugh) Remix CD yesterday.

V-jay-jay is going into my short list of favorite things to call my nether regions. Poonani & hoo-ha are still at the top of the list, tho.
I'm going out with my other single friends to eat Indian food & pretend that we aren't wishing we were going home to somebody special.
I was listening to Two Doors Down (Dolly) this morning!

We're not doing much for V-Day. We don't really have the money, so we're just doing Chinese take-out and we got/made cards for each other.

As for the hunger, that was me from 20 weeks on (probably how I gained 50lbs in the 2nd 2 trimesters-YIKES!). I always joked that cereal used to be my whole breakfast until I got pregnant- then it became an appetizer. i also turned into a Hobbit when it came to eating. I'd have breakfast, second breakfast, elevensies, lunch, etc. I was pretty appalled when Ethan came out weighing only 6 lbs at 38 weeks 5 days. I was sure I was having a HORSE. HA!

Glad the pre-e watch is still going well!

Ummmm.....I'm celebrating by going around saying V-JAY-JAY as much as possible, it is my new fave word.

We're not even celebrating tonight. Waiting until Saturday because the in-laws will be here and I won't have to pay a sitter yay!! I am grilling steaks tonight but only because they were on sale at the Food Lion :).

I'm not doing much to celebrate, but I had to comment when I saw the phrase "songs about trains"!

On the way to my first Rosanne Cash concert, I played my then-boyfriend all of my favorite country songs because he hated country music. Halfway through the CD, he said "Are all of your favorite songs about trains?" I thought about it for a minute and said, "Yeah, I guess they are." I had never made the connection before.

When I was really little, I got in trouble with my grandmother singing "My Baby Thinks He's a Train". She objected to the line "He's always giving some tramp a ride." I of course had no idea what it meant, but it makes me giggle every time I hear it now.

I love Bailey.

We're picking up "Papa" at work then heading off for a family dinner with the girls.

Happy V-jay-jay day to you, too!

V-jay-jay is my new favorite word! (I would never have thought Bailey would have a euphuism for her nether regions)
When I was in college I worked at Hallmark (if you ever want to meet cranky punk-rock, institution haters go to the hallmark I worked for) I felt it was my moral obligation to buy into the over-hyped holiday since it paid my electrical bill...now I just like it because my birthday is in 2 weeks so I get to eat cake twice in the same month...and I have a cool husband who likes to surprise me.

Oh my goodness you like Kate Elliot. T? I don't know. I haven't gotten the last book because it's hardcover still (I think) and I can't afford even wonderful books hardcover. But oh! How I love her writing. Big sprawling huge epic and she had most of it planned! Some of it, anyway!
Must get the book. Must buy all the others, actually; I have only the first four. Must read. Read read read.

I'm making the man some spicy shrimp and garlic pasta, and am constructing individual desserts consisting of a thick disc of cold brownie, one of coffee heath bar crunch ice cream, and one of vanilla heath bar crunch ice cream. He wrote me a silly poem on one of the hearts he cut out while helping our son make valentines for all the kids in his preschool class. We'll eat, yada yada, then watch the Olympics.

We mostly already celebrated over the weekend. He got me Godivas and some roses. I got him some lingerie for me. Hee. We ordered a pizza (I'm waiting for the delivery guy now) and will just have a quiet night at home with some "snuggling" later.

Yeah, I'm gonna get you for that one.
I will spend the evening plugging anf unplugging the humidifier and pouring Vicks something-or-other in it, serving the man copious amount of tea and holding his forhead while phlegm the color of chocolate cheese comes rolling on, praying Polly will go to bed early (hahahahahahahahaha), and collapsing into a heap, hunk of bread in hand, at some point during the night. Good times. If this isn't romance, I don;t know what is. But you know what, it is romantic after all.

1. We exchanged text messages, and he's working late. I got cut off by a pickup on the drive home.

2. Eat frequently, six small meals, yada, yada. Anything with fat is good. Hey, when you are watching the carbs and growing a baby, low fat milk is not an option!

PS Thanks again for satisfying my inner math junkie with those stats.
