Geez, it's embarrassing when "Catholics" can't post a comment, send an e-mail, or debate without falling into logical fallacies like ad hominem attacks!! It's not necessary and it weakens any chance there was of having one iota of credibility!
I humbly offer my apologies for them Cecily. "They know not what they do."

I love Elena.
That was so cool! Yay for video!
And why can't you do self-portraits just cause I do them? Have you seen how many members there are in that group?? You should do it if you want to!

I hope you do more vid posts since I'll never see you at the shop again.

Hmmm ... "Catholics" == Jeff Culbreath and his crew of stinkies?
You and Tori look gorge!

omg, cecily. you are SO beautiful, and such a great voice, and so articulate... remember what i said last week about getting some PR and talking to important people about choice? you're perfect. people will listen to you. (mean people will also say you curse in front of your daughter... but i just think that's hilarious)
Posted by: grumpygirl | Sunday, April 29, 2007 at 06:42 PM
OMG. Cec, you are BEAUTIFUL! And I heart your voice. It's so soothing and I could hear you talk for hours! (In a non-stalker sort of way.) No wonder you have so many adoring fans! Your outer beauty matches the beauty of your heart! p.s. did you work a phone se*x line in a past life? you have the perfect voice! ;)

It was so cool to see you and Tori! You are both gorgeous!
Posted by: Kate | Sunday, April 29, 2007 at 06:50 PM
OH my goodness! That was so much fun!!! You don't sound like I pictured...I really don't know what that means, but you just don't. I pictured someone that sounded more harsh maybe? No harsh isn't right. You just sound so gentle, which is cool because you are a very assertive, well-spoken woman. I mean, you should read children's books on tape or something. :)
Gosh I should just shut up. Anyway, THANK YOU! Loved it!
-Catholic Christine (we're not all bad--honest!).

Oh my gosh, she's gotten so big!! She is very sweet and you both look lovely on camera. Hope you enjoyed the bday dinner... and I agree with you: The iMAC totally rocks. Have you seen the Bonjour software? You can network non-macs with the imac and then print from the non-mac to your networked printer. All in the 2 minutes it takes to download. So cool!
Posted by: Sylvie | Sunday, April 29, 2007 at 06:59 PM
You are beautiful, your voice is beautiful, Tori is adorable and it was great to "meet" you.
Yay for videoblogging!
Oh, and Happy Birthday!
Posted by: jen | Sunday, April 29, 2007 at 07:14 PM
too bad that imac camera isn't good enough to shoot porn with. you'd be hot.
oh well.

Love the video post! You have a great voice, like a radio voice, but I somehow feel that I should have expected that.

Wow, that was so fun! It's weird cuz I feel like I know you more now (and I really don't know you at all).
p.s. I often rest my babies on my breasts, too--so THAT'S what it looks like when I do that!
Posted by: Stella | Sunday, April 29, 2007 at 08:05 PM
that was fantastic. Thanks for putting yourself out there in yet another way.
Posted by: Lala | Sunday, April 29, 2007 at 08:12 PM
That was so awesome, Cec! It's not like I don't already hear your voice when I read your posts, but to see and hear you makes me miss you even more!
We'll have to try to make it out to Philly again sometime so we can visit more and play with the adorable Miss Tori!
Posted by: ktpupp | Sunday, April 29, 2007 at 08:13 PM
Gosh, I feel like I know you from reading your posts (I know I don't REALLY know you but I FEEL like I do) and the amazing thing is, you sounded like I thought you would. I think the video post was super super cool.
Tori is a natural too! Sweet thing with her Tori-loo-who's!
PS-I emailed you (with a different email address) ages ago and asked if I could ask you a question about something you've been open about on your blog (and I need some help with)...I still want to but I haven't been able to spit it all out in an email the way I want to...I will do it soon because I really do think you could help me out a bit.

Cecily, Happy Birthday! Please don't be depressed - just stop reading those meanies for a while and hug your daughter and come back to the debate when you feel stronger. I'm so glad you have the energy to keep telling your story - and to connect compassionately with the people who want to pass a law which probably would have killed you. But you can't do it all the time.
I live in Australia and it astounds me that this law could have been passed, let alone ratified by the Supreme Court. I hope to god our government doesn't head in the same direction.
Good on you Cecily!
Posted by: sjusju | Sunday, April 29, 2007 at 08:30 PM
I'm sorry, what were you saying ?
I totally wasn't paying attention, I was too busy wtching the beautiful little girl Tori is !!
Posted by: Gigi | Sunday, April 29, 2007 at 09:14 PM
That was so lovely!
I knew what you sounded like because I remembered hearing you on the CBC interview you did, but this was different because I could match up your face and voice. Neat!
And as for those aberrant Catholics, I asked my ex-priest hubby how they fit into Catholicism. He laughed---because he thinks there will be a big shock when some of the more judgemental types figure out which afterlife they've gone to. God loves us, and he would never preach hatred and anger and judgement.
Please ignore them, Cecily. Delete them, block them, just don't let them hurt you.
Posted by: Aurelia | Sunday, April 29, 2007 at 09:45 PM
That was awesome!
I got a MacBook in Dec. after always using PCs and I love it...but I haven't done any video yet...maybe b/c I don't have a cute baby to show off. Not that you wouldn't be interesting to listen to even w/o Tori!
And I think she does look more like you in the video.
Looking forward to more.

I just LOVE the video blog (and agree with everyone else who has commented on what a beautiful speaking voice you have).
I kept laughing every time you made a comment about Tori and the noises she was making, because I didn't hear ANY of them. It wasn't because I was ignoring her, it was obviously because, with 3 children always in my ear, I am well-practised at tuning out the kiddy sounds while trying to listen to an adult talk!!!
Posted by: Janet | Sunday, April 29, 2007 at 09:56 PM
ahhhhhhh that was great!!! Love it you are both beautifull!!! I just feel like I know you a little bit more (in a non stalker way!!!) you should really do this every week.
Posted by: yanicka | Sunday, April 29, 2007 at 10:25 PM
Can I just tell you that after seeing your speak, I am no longer scared of you? Okay, let me take that back. I have always been cared to disagree with you (even though I have!) because in written form, you can be kind of lethal. But after seeing you live...My, God, you can just tell what a lovely and inviting person you are, not to mention stunning.
I will feel free to disagree now...you don't scare me anymore!
PS Tori Lou Who scrumptious.
Posted by: Suzanne | Sunday, April 29, 2007 at 10:42 PM
What wonderful fun! My daughter is only a few months older than Tori, and she is still making all those hilarious noises...it's so much fun to listen to her, especially over the monitor when she's in her crib, or when she sits with her books and "reads" them out loud. I swear she is already talking so clearly, I just have no idea what language it is!
Anyway, just wanted to say that I love the videoblog posts, and seeing Tori (as adorable as she is in still-shots, she is just so much more gorgeous in motion!), as well as reading what you have to say.
Posted by: Jenn | Sunday, April 29, 2007 at 10:42 PM
Love you babe!
If you ever have any mac questions, let me know. They are super easy, and super fun. I've been a proud mac user since 1990. Some of my friends call me a mac-zealot.
heh.
Tell those people bringing you down that they suck. How's that for eloquent. Mean people suck.
Posted by: JK | Sunday, April 29, 2007 at 10:52 PM
How about, "How's that for eloquent?"
(Forgot the ?... hate it when that happens.)
Tired. Looking forward to next week's video blog!

Too awesome!!! Love your voice, love Tori Lou Who's hair, love her input on the topics ;) Just love it. Looking forward to the next!!

You have a beautiful speaking voice. And your laugh is fantastic!
The two pony tails is actually driving Tori's cute factor higher, which I did not believe was humanly possible!
Thank you for sharing that.
Posted by: Kathleen | Sunday, April 29, 2007 at 11:13 PM
I thought I loved you before, but now I really love you. You are beautiful, eloquent, motherly, warm, real, divine, witty, smart and I could think of a million other adjectives (excluding simple-minded).
Don't go changin'.

Happy Sunday to you too!
Tori is adorable. and your first videopost was delightful. Very warm and real and interesting.
and I know lots of babies who do the vocalizing-while-inhaling thing so Charlie can relax about it.

It's so cool to hear your voice so that I can hear it in my head now when I read you. I wonder what is the default voice that we hear in our heads when we don't know what somebody sounds like? Our own? Sounds like Tori's going to be a good talker, too.
Posted by: Tracy | Monday, April 30, 2007 at 01:29 AM
you sound like i thought you would, too.

how fun! It's amazing putting a face with a voice and 'meeting' you for the first time. I've heard your voice before (on a radio broadcast) and have seen pictures but putting the 2 together makes you so much more real. You are so lovely and have a beautiful speaking voice and your daughter rocks those ponytails so cutely!! I can't wait to see/hear the next video blog post/

Cecily,
From a long-time lurker - thank you so much for sharing your video post. You and Tori are both absolutely gorgeous. I got all sniffly listening and watching the two of you - it's so obvious how much you love and adore Tori, I can't believe that anyone would question your commitment to your family and making the decision to do what is best for all of you. Thank you so much for your blog and for sharing your beautiful family with us.

You are so, so right. In pictures Tori looks more like Charlie, but on the video (and I am guessing in person, tho I haven't had the pleasure!) she looks more like you! So fun! Looking forward to these weekly installments!

Another Catholic weighing in to echo Elena's comment about the "Catholics" and the ad hominem attacks. I'm so sorry they've gotten to you, Cecily.
And I agree with everyone: you are lovely and have a beautiful voice, and Tori is so cute she's practically edible.
I hope there are more videos to come!

First comment from a long-time reader...
I decided to watch your video post while I was nursing my eight-month-old son on the couch. He heard Tori making sounds on the computer, popped off, sat up, and started waving like crazy at her. I think he digs her. (But who wouldn't, right?)
Thanks for many, many posts of good reading. I've always enjoyed your writing!
Posted by: Gil | Monday, April 30, 2007 at 01:46 PM
love her pigtails
and love being able to see you in action!
congrats on new computer
don't let the a-holes get you down, you're much stronger than that
you're rubber anyway
keep the videos coming!

1)my gal does a weird breathing in thing that i thinks is weird, but it may just be her learning she knows how to breath in really hard
2)love her tshirt!
3)tori looks like charlie charlie charlie i tells ya, charlie!

"Momma, she is so cute."
"Yeah, she is very cute."
this is what my twins said after watching your video post. I have to wholeheartedly agree!
I am sorry that you had to take a beating from others. Everyone is entitled to their opinions. I don't understand why we have to beat each other up for things we don't agree on.. You and Charlie were faced with an impossible situation, what other "choice" was there???
can't wait to share your video blog entries with my dynamic duo. They really enjoyed "meeting" Tori!

Cec - I can't see it on either You Tube or your regular post. Crap. But I can HEAR you and Baby Girl and your voice really is gorgeous, just like everybody else says. So sorry it won't play. But loved listening to it. I wanna scoop Baby Tori right outa there and cuddle her.

I love you even more! You are so sweet on cam :)
Posted by: amy | Monday, April 30, 2007 at 08:24 PM
That was really fun! It's always interesting to hear someone. I didn't read through all of your comments to see if anyone told you, but you can put the You Tube video on your blog. If you copy and paste the embedded code which you will find on the right side of the You Tube page after you've published it. Copy it to your blog and it will magically appear. If someone's already said that, I'm sorry for being redundant.
Also, Tori's little piggies* are cute.
*her ponytails.

that is all. :-)

Hey, Cecily and Tori!!
I love the video blog thing. I found it especially funny that Tori giggled when you admitted to not being "fucking eloquent." Its Laurel and Hardy on the internet!
I have to say that your voice is unexpected. Its like when you read a book and you visualize the characters and then they make a movie out of it. Sometimes its a downer (ex: Eragon (except for the dragon)), and sometimes its a pleasant surprise (example: Lord of the Rings; Renfield from Dracula: Dead and Loving It; Mr. Connor in the most recent Pride and Prejudice flick). You have a great voice and an easy accent. You could do radio... (so could Tori, she is seriously chatty).
Have you noticed that it is only the pro-lifers that post pictures of dead, mutliated fetuses on their picket signs so that kids can see it? For people who value censorship, they sure don't practise it.
Posted by: Karen | Monday, April 30, 2007 at 10:30 PM
I love your voice!!! And Tori is tooooo cute!
Posted by: Whitney | Tuesday, May 01, 2007 at 10:02 AM
You sound exactly like I pictured you would. I loved that "entry". So cool that you could do it so quickly. I'm hoping to follow in your footsteps one day so that we can actually get to know each other. I feel like we're friends, and I really hope you're not creeped out by that. I'm not a stalker, I swear. :)
As for the hater (anti-choicer), you're right. He's (she's?) wrong. Pro-choice isn't something you're born as, so it's pretty silly to say we're all going to abort ourselves extinct. I was born from two totally vehemently pro-life people, an entire pro-life family. Very Republican, very conservative. They all still are, and I'm about as pro-choice as you can get.
Also, pro-choice people HAVE CHILDREN. Pro-choice does not mean abort every pregnancy. It doesn't even mean abort one pregnancy. Pro-choice just means you believe women should have the right to choose for themselves what to do with their bodies, including keeping unexpected pregnancies. Duh! Some people are just short-sighted.
