Bizarre Info For The Day
So, today we took Tori to a local church's Nursery School for their Parent's Morning Out Program (one morning a week, 9 am to noon, $60 a month--awesome!) so I could have a few toddler free hours to get work done. It's a lovely, huge place, with each room for the kids large and sprawling, and a nice, warm feeling that I just loved. Tori promptly forgot we were there when she saw the toys, so I left her in their capable hands to go fill out the paperwork with the director and she told me the most interesting thing.
You know the rabbits on the Teletubbies? Well, it turns out that they aren't normal. They are FUCKING HUGE. Apparently the director's father is a biologist and he became a tad obsessed with the fact that if the people inside the Teletubby costumes were adults, the rabbits were not the proportional, so he did some research. It turns out that they Brits (ok, some sites say they are Danish) breed this huge four-foot long bunny special.
That is all.
PS: Digg this?

Ah, come on! You're pulling are legs! ;)

Glad you could get a little free time for yourself. I think it's probably good for Tori as well. ;)
As for the rabbits....crazy huh? I have three bunnies myself and they are definately NOT that big! I don't think I'd want a rabbit that could hospitalize me with a kick from those massive feet. But, I love bunnies. So, I think even though they're huge, they're awfully cute!
NaPaBloMo is almost over! It must be tough to be under pressure to post everyday, but as a reader, I look forward to it! :)
Hope you're having a great week!

Terrific that she is so independent! You are raising her well! Good for you and for her that you are having some free time.

Those rabbits are really scaring me. Really. I am now preparing myself for rabbit nightmares.

This is perfectly true and was all over the British press when Teletubbies was first made, which was when my 9 year old was about Tori's age. They are bred from a breed called Flemish Giants, which are long established in rabbit show circles over here (speaking as a vet). If some of you want more weird rabbit internet moments, try putting "rabbit agility" or "rabbit showjumping" into Youtube.

As if the concept of the Teletubbies wasn't scary enough without giant killer rabbits being involved...

Holy bunny, Batman!!

From the BBC Teletubbies page: "The giant rabbits, as rabbits do, had a tendency to mate frequently, thus spoiling many, many shots."
Eh-oh!

Congratulations. That is the most fucking bizarre thing I've heard in a month. Seriously, what are people thinking? THIS is what research dollars are paying for? I bet you a zillion bucks he's got a grant from somewhere. God forbid we focus on breast cancer research. No, let's breed ENORMOUS FREAK RABBITS. Yeah, I can see where that would be much more rewarding. Rant over.

What a weird coincidence -- I was just reading YESTERDAY about giant bunnies in my favorite magazine, Mental Floss! I would never expect to hear about massive rabbits from two different sources on two consecutive days...who knows what wonders tomorrow will bring!

Just makes me wonder what banned substances that man is taking! As if the Teletubbies aren't enough...

Holy Hossenpheffer! Those are some frickin' huge rabbits! I've never seen the Teletubbies, but I want to see it now to check out the giant rabbits.

I had no idea! My daughters LOVED the Teletubbies (even if the purple one was gay, heh!)
The ones you linked to ARE very large! Have seen similar ones at the local country fair, unfortunately bred large for other (meat eating) reasons! Shh, don't tell the Teletubbies! ;)

Hm, sounds to me like you could use a little more weirdness re animals... Have you ever heard of the Chartreux cat? A French breed with beautiful gray fur. They were bred for their pelts, to use in fur coats!!! Sort of like 101 Dalmatians. The idea of actually skinning kitties for a coat is really something... icky.

RE the comment above me......we had a chartreux cat and she was unbelievably beautiful. Softest animal I have ever touched. So I can believe they made furs out of them! She also didn't shed at all. Weird!
The teletubbies freak me out to begin with. Those giant rabbits just add to it!
